a. Study of marine plastic pollution on Commander Islands, development of a local marine plastics interpretative center together with the Commander Islands Biosphere Reserve.
b. Looking into hands-on solutions to the global plastic pollution issue and possible recycling options. Development of a scalable project on marine plastics recycling (with the support of UN SDSN Youth Initiative).
c. Visual observations and sampling for microplastic pollution in the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre.
d. Preparation of a sampling protocol for a microplastic pollution research cruise in the Russian Arctic.
e. Participation in modelling global anthropogenic input into the world ocean (joint project with TU Delft).

1. ocean tipping points;
2. direct and indirect ecotoxicological effects of microplastics in marine environment: microplastic as a vector for various pollutants and its impact on marine organisms;
3. physical properties of microplastics and their impact on ice formation in polar areas.
