Activities
Reef Check Foundation Indonesia is a non-profit organization designed to improve well-being of coastal communities and conserve coral reefs through empowerment people, government, and stakeholders. Our approaches are designed to demonstrate that effective coral reef management benefits people, economy, and biodiversity. Our activities are:
- Coral Reef Monitoring with Reef Check Methode to regularly monitor and report on reefs health
- Coral Bleaching Monitoring where Reef Check leading national effort to respond the increased sea surface temperature that caused mass coral bleaching in Indonesia in 2009 and 2016. Reef Check and Ministry of Marine and Fisheries of Indonesia launched national monitoring network to map extent and severity of coral bleaching in the archipelago of Indonesia. Also, we are developing national working group consisting stakeholders and government to determine strategies post bleaching 2016.
- Strengthen community-led organizations through assist, eqqupping, provide capacity building for local fishers and local coastal community at North and East Bali in emerging marine ecotourism destination, also obtain financial and business services to improve their business and resources to fund their effort to conserve their coastal and marine area
