Activities

Sea Shepherd Brasil is a non-profit organization that protects marine life, founded in 1999 by Captain Paul Watson, also founder of Greenpeace, and the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society in 1977.

From the smallest creatures to the giants of the sea, our campaigns defend whales, dolphins, seals, sharks, penguins, turtles, fish and waterfowl from various threats, such as illegal fishing, overfishing and the destruction of aquatic ecosystems.

We take direct action to combat environmental crimes in the ocean, using innovative tactics to investigate, document and expose illegal activities. Additionally, we act in cooperation with agencies responsible for enforcing conservation laws.

Sea Shepherd Brasil works against unreported and undocumented illegal fishing, against marine pollution, against the trade of sharks and rays for consumption, in favor of a safe environment for whales and for the conservation of Amazonian porpoises, among other activities. To this end, we carry out public awareness campaigns, beach and underwater cleanups, development of educational programs for different audiences and leading scientific research in partnership with national expert universities.
