Activities

Szn-Sicily is an interdepartmental center dealing with marine biology, marine ecology and relative infrastructures. Main research lines:
- Studies of biology and ecology of fish species, with particular focus on deep environments;
- Sustainable use of marine resources with focus on sustainable fisheries;
- Conservation of biodiversity, through the design of spatial protection measures, studies of ecological and socio-economic effects, governance models;
- Study of the effects of climate change and the impacts of marine litter on marine habitats and species;
- Application and implementation of biotechnologies with particular reference to extreme marine environments.
