Activities
I am a Sea Level and Tidal Scientist with expertise in the management and operational use of sea level monitoring technology and the scientific applications of sea level data. I drive improvements to resilience to coastal hazards via the use of monitoring technology and through improved predictability of tides and extreme events. I am a keen exponent of capacity building in developing economies and have been instrumental in delivering technology and scientific training solutions within the Caribbean and Africa. I explore sea level and bottom pressure variability on all timescales, from high frequency seiching to the long-term trends that are associated with Climate Change. I have an interest in the interactions that occur between modes of variability in the atmosphere and ocean, particularly in polar regions. I advocate for the complementary nature of sea level observations from satellites and tide gauges
