My latest research in 2024 titled "Effectiveness of Tsunami Temporary Evacuation Sites (TES) in Pangandaran Village Using Agent-Based Modeling," evaluates the nine existing Tsunami Temporary Evacuation Sites (TESs) in Pangandaran, a UNESCO-recognized tsunami-prepared community that was devastated by a tsunami in 2006. The study utilized a Capacity Demand Index (CDI) derived from an agent-based simulation, considering a worst-case Mw 8.7 earthquake scenario. The findings revealed that, on average, two TESs—Pangandaran Grand Mosque and Krisna Beach Hotel—were over-demanded, while the remaining seven TESs were under-demanded. Furthermore, significant evacuation congestion was anticipated on Parapat Street and Kidang Pananjung Street during such an event.
