At present my responsibilities in the FAO Fisheries and Aquaculture Division (NFI) mostly deal with project management and information management in support to the divisional work and through on-going partnerships liaising with executive secretaries and officers representatives of other institutions (e.g., Regional Fisheries Bodies, IGOs, research centers). Member of the Secretariat of the Fisheries and Resources Monitoring System (FIRMS) since its foundation in 2004, as of today I am also performing tasks on behalf of the Secretary.
Development Coordinator and content manager of the Global Record of Stocks and Fisheries (GRSF), a system assigning unique identifiers to fish stocks and fisheries gathering data from multiple sources including FIRMS, FishSource, RAM Legacy Stock Assessment Data Base, and FAO SDG 14.4.1 Questionnaire (Sustainable Development Goals, indicator 14.4.1 Fish stocks sustainability: “Proportion of fish stocks within biologically sustainable levels”). The work I carry out on the GRSF is in support to sustainable exploitation of fishery resources and in support to traceability and ecolabelling schemes.
Work package leader or focal point in EU funded projects: D4Science-II (2009-2011), iMarine (2011-2014), BlueBRIDGE (2015-2018), and Blue-Cloud (2019-2023).
